This course provides an in-depth knowledge of several different database management systems (DBMS) and an understanding of the basic relational, network, or hierarchical database structures which they use. Issues of privacy, security, protection, integrity, redundancy, distributed database concepts, data manipulation and query languages are covered. Student will learn how these concepts and facilities are implemented on common microcomputer-based DBMS products and will learn "hands-on" how those common features are implemented in a variety of such products. Two hours lecture, three laboratory hours per week.
